Clean energy from the sea is now a reality and a necessity to achieve the decarbonisation goals for 2030. The sea is a renewable, inexhaustible, clean and natural source of energy. Energy from the sea can be supplied constantly with waves, tides and currents, however, it is not yet exploited and valorised, particularly in our country.
World Water Day, created by the United Nations, is celebrated on 22 March and for the 2023 edition it has the theme “Accelerate change”. Seapower scrl, a research center participated by the Federico II University of Naples, presents two of its projects that exploit the energy from wave motion and tidal currents.
Pivot and Gemstar, the kite of the sea are the two systems developed by Seapower and both ripe for the commercial development phase.
