Design of a fixed-pitch wind tower and turbine with a 50kW asynchronous generator
The C125 project was developed in 2020 on behalf of Optiturb srl, an Italian startup that was founded in 2019 by other industrial entities with consolidated experience in the wind energy sector. Its main goal consists in carrying out revamping of non-functionating turbines, offering rental services to its customers.
Seapower has complied with the customer’s request for a turbine that could be easily adapted to the wind towers already installed on site, while staying within strict construction budget limits and without sacrificing reliability and high performance. The C125 produces 125000kWh yearly at a speed of 5.5 m/s.
Seapower has designed an innovative powertrain and a 23-meter rotor with sophisticated aerodynamics. The low-fixed rotation speed improves the turbine’s fatigue life, and the absence of an inverter avoids a significant percentage of faults.
From 2020, Seapower is engaged in the production and maintenance of the C125. Moreover, it is responsible for the project of connecting trunks between the tower and the nacelle according to the needs of the construction site, by evaluating the most suitable solution each time.
